Today we wanted to give you behind the scenes look at the packaging for our bow tie of the month club, The Club.
The Club is something we're still figuring out and evolving constantly. We have big plans coming for it in the future, but for now, it's as simple as it sounds: our members get one new bow tie, every month. With that in mind, packaging can be pretty minimal, making for a more streamlined experience. In this post we'll be looking at the packaging for one of our Mango bow ties from January 2016, alongside a matching pocket square that this customer got as an extra for being 12 Month Subscription holder.
The first thing we like to include is a small tag saying who the bow tie was made by. Whether it's me or Chris cranking it out, we feel that it's always nice to know who handmade the product you'll be wearing. This tag is stamped with our logo and tied to the bow tie itself, tucked neatly underneath inside the box.
Along with this small tag, we also like to send a hand written letter and we do this for every single order we have. As a small business, it's important for us to let you know that your business is appreciated. We depend on each and every sale, so we like to let you know how awesome you are! In this note we'll include other details such as what to expect for next month, any remaining extras they have left on their subscription, etc.
Once the letter is signed and sealed, we package the bow tie and any extras (in this case, the pocket square) with our letterpress packaging from local print maker Banshee Press, put them all in a small, craft paper, recyclable box, and tie them up in a neat little bundle. This is then sent out in a padded envelope to make sure it arrives safely.
While The Club is still evolving, we really take a lot of pride in the small details that go into it and the packaging is one of our favorite parts. Do you have any packaging ideas? What's your favorite packaging that you've ever seen? Let us know in the comments section below!
